What They Did To Him (based on Mark 14:1-15:39)
The priests and scribes sought to arrest him
While a woman showed up to anoint him.
Judas Iscariot betrayed him
While Peter boasted he’d never leave him.
A crowd with clubs seized him
Then the High Priest with cronies sentenced him.
The frenzied crowd derided him
And the frightened Peter denied him.
Pontius Pilate scourged him
Before pompous soldiers struck him.
Simon of Cyrene carried his cross
To the squad of soldiers who cast their lots.
Condemned thieves accompanied him
While curious passersby antagonized him.
The chief priests with the scribes questioned his authority
But the stranger with the sponge quenched his thirst.
After Jesus breathed his last
The centurion believed at last.
“This was the Son of God!”
